Bringin Back the Sewing Sessions – Learning Skills for Life
We are delighted to announce the return of our Sewing Sessions, following strong requests from our service users. These sessions provide valuable opportunities to learn lifelong skills while also encouraging creativity, confidence, and community connection.
This project has been relaunched without funding, and we are actively seeking support to ensure its long-term sustainability.
Feedback from participants in our Summer Club for Women and their Children highlighted a keen interest in developing sewing and art skills. In response, PARCA has reintroduced these sessions as part of our Friday Breakfast Club. Participants will learn practical skills such as stitching simple items like recycled pillowcases or upcycling old clothing. Beyond the craft, these sessions help individuals gain knowledge, build confidence, and develop independence.
Because this is a group activity, attendees also benefit from practising English language skills in a supportive environment while reducing isolation and loneliness. It also helps to address mental health challenges often left unspoken.
The sessions are free and open to all, including asylum seekers, refugees, and local residents.
