Migrant Housing Rights Project
TDS Foundation has funded our organisation to support our refugee and migrant housing rights and obligations in general, and in particular about:
Best practice in the management of private rented housing.
Legal rights and obligations of those involved in the provision or management of private rented housing.
September 2015, the government announced that the UK would resettle up to 20,000 Syrian refugees over the next five years.
Peterborough City Council (PCC) agreed to resettle around one hundred Syrian refugees in Peterborough over the next five years. The first five families (approximately 23 people) arrived at the end of September 2016 as part of the Syrian Vulnerable Person Resettlement Program.
Since lockdown in March-2020, our organisation has continued to support families and individuals who are working in Zero Hours Contracts, No Resource to Public Fund and others are in financial difficulties. Our team are DBS Checked and know the community needs well. People on their own that we’re supporting are often lonely, depressed and scared. People living with family or others are often incredibly stressed out and feeling the impact of being in a small enclosed space.
The Government introduced a new Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy to offer relocation or other assistance to current and former Locally Employed Staff (LES) in Afghanistan to reflect the changing situation in Afghanistan.
The resettlement programme is offered to LES whom the UK government considers to have put themselves in the most danger and contributed the most to the UK mission in Afghanistan. The Relocation Offer is based on recognition of service and an assessment of likely current and future risk to LES due to the nature of their work for the UK government in the evolving situation in Afghanistan.
